Alcohol Awareness Stewards

Our Service Expertise

All SGL staff members will receive vulnerable person training to ensure they are aware of our expectations and policies in supporting people who require assistance, be that a lone female trying to get home at night, or an individual under the influence of alcohol. In 2011, the company developed an Alcohol Awareness Initiative supported by Strathclyde Police, with teams focusing on the identification of individuals in need of assistance. As such, our staff have vast experience dealing with members of the public under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Our Focus

The vigilance of site staff is essential to protective measures, especially in busy environments where alcohol is served. SGL is the largest supplier of Door Supervisors in the UK, providing experienced staff trained in Alcohol Awareness to student unions at the Universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde, and Newcastle, as well as bars, clubs and venues throughout the country. Our Alcohol and Drug Awareness Teams will be able to deal with sensitive issues and, through their primary support function, they will assist in crime prevention through a visual security deterrent at client sites.

Our Capabilities

SGL stewards work in conjunction with each venue’s security team and are trained to look for the early stage of drunkenness, specifically tasked with ensuring that patrons do not over-indulge. This initiative has been welcomed and supported by police forces throughout the UK and can be a great addition to the team of any licensed premises. Our Alcohol Awareness teams are trained to identify individuals under the influence of alcohol, anyone showing early signs of distress, and those who may be in need of assistance. They assist those unable to look after themselves and provide customer service to anyone in need of help or advice while contributing to a visible security presence.
